Sushmita heads the project and energy practice at the firm and has over 16 years of experience advising various domestic and multinational companies, both as external advisor as well as in-house counsel. She has extensive experience in the energy sector, both, oil and gas and power, covering the entire supply chain challenges. In the upstream oil and gas sector, she has advised on various regulatory issues and contractual arrangements, including production sharing contracts, joint operating agreements, joint bidding agreements, area of mutual interest agreements. In the downstream sector, she has advised on gas sale agreements, gas transportation agreements, EPC contracts for LNG terminal, PNGRB regulations and other regulatory issues. In the Power Sector, she has worked with some of the biggest private and public sector power companies, advising on power purchase agreements, EPC contracts related to power plants, various contractual and legal issues arising in the power sector and power related litigations. She has also worked on some of the biggest project financing deals in India, and has led the team in drafting, negotiation and closing of such transactions. In addition, she has experience advising clients on various general corporate matters, labour related issues and data protection law. She has also conducted training for corporates on ethical conduct policy and data protection law. Sushmita is a graduate of the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata and has done her Master of Laws (Oil and Gas) from University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. She has worked with some of the leading Indian law firms such as Khaitan & Co and Trilegal, and some of the biggest multinational companies such as BG Group (now part of Shell Group of companies) and Reliance Industries Limited. In addition, she has also taught energy laws at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun (India) for three years as an industry fellow, while simultaneously working with the law firm.
Abhishek heads the corporate practice at the firm and has over 16 years of experience advising on mergers & acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and general corporate matters. He has advised on cross-border mergers, international and domestic acquisitions, corporate restructurings and private equity investments by way of investment agreements, venture financing agreements, asset purchase agreements and business transfer agreements. He has advised some of India’s leading business groups on their investments abroad, restructuring their operations, appropriate corporate structures, as well as leading foreign investors on their investments and corporate strategies in India. He has extensive experience in Indian securities laws, having advised on various equity capital markets transactions as well as the Takeover Regulations, Insider Trading Regulations and Investor Protection Guidelines. The sectors in which Abhishek has acted range from manufacturing, e-commerce, logistics, energy, technology, pharmaceuticals and healthcare. In addition to India, he has advised on transactions pertaining to other parts of Asia (Bangladesh, Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka). He has acted for leading manufacturing, energy, private equity and venture capital funds, lenders and governments. Abhishek has also acted for multilateral institutions such as IFC on the development and financing of projects in India. Abhishek graduated from the National Law School of Indian University in Bangalore (2005). Abhishek was previously a Partner with AZB & Partners and has worked with leading Indian law firms J. Sagar Associates, Amarchand and Trilegal. He has been listed as a notable practitioner for M&A in India by in 2020 & 2021.
Harsha leads the dispute practice at the firm and has over 16 years of experience in advising on commercial litigation and arbitration. He has extensive experience of civil and commercial litigation in Indian courts, including before the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, the National Green Tribunal, the National Consumer Commission, the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, the Competition Appellate Tribunal and National Company Law Tribunal. He has also appeared in several arbitrations on behalf of various clients including ONGC Videsh, IBM, Oil India Ltd. and Government of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council, etc. Harsha graduated from the National Law School of India University in Bangalore (2004) and completed his LL.M. from the George Washington University School of Law, Washington D.C in 2007. He is licensed to practice law in India and is also a member of the New York Bar.
Rajiv leads the intellectual property practice at the firm and has over 15 years of experience in advising on commercial IP acquisition, litigation, and arbitration. He has extensive experience of civil and commercial litigation in Indian courts, including before the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, the Competition Commission, the Intellectual Property Appellate Board, and the National Company Law Tribunal. Rajiv has represented several defendants in multiple IPR (patent) litigations at the Delhi High Court and before the Competition Commission of India. Rajiv advises handset brands and Indian standard-setting bodies in relation to various issues related to SEPs and FRAND. He is also one of the largest filers of trademarks in India having prosecuted more than 3000 trademark applications in the past two years alone. Rajiv is one of the founders of the Fair Standards Alliance, a Brussels based non-profit body set up in 2015 to promote licensing of standard essential patents that are Fair, Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory. In the media & entertainment sector, Priyanka has advised multiple producers and A-List studios in the Bollywood and TV industry on various aspects of copyright law, contractual and financing matters including complex international co-production arrangements and has drafted contracts related to all phases of motion picture rights acquisition, financing, production and distribution. Ashish has 10 years of experience in commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution practice. He is enrolled with Delhi Bar Council and is also a qualified “Advocate on Record” of the Supreme Court of India. He specializes in alternative dispute resolution and regulatory disputes. He has been advising several high-profile clients including public sector undertakings, municipal bodies, and Government Authorities, and represented them before the Delhi High Court, Supreme Court as well as in a number of Arbitration cases. Ashish also regularly appears before the NCLT, NCLAT and APTEL. Ashish has successfully represented in several high-stake arbitration matters and has also been associated with the Petroleum and Natural Gas related matters and issues arising under the PNGRB Acts and various regulations made thereunder including authorization and tariff-related matters. Ashish is also a fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
